Our legacy…

Founded in 1874 by German immigrants, Trinity Lutheran School began its mission in what is now central Toledo. It was an area known as “Lenks Hill” and our former sanctuary is still utilized at the corner of Vance and Ewing. For over 80 years, the school faithfully served its community from that original location. By 1958, however, the growing congregation faced serious challenges: a cramped, aging facility with no room to expand. In a bold step of faith, a group of visionary leaders purchased ten acres of farmland on the outskirts of town, an area some jokingly referred to as “way out in the country.” But the move was no joke. It allowed for the construction of a new facility and the addition of a kindergarten class, opening the door to new possibilities.

The first decade at our Glendale Avenue site was marked by flexibility and determination, with worship services held in a multi-purpose gym. The 1960s brought serious financial strain, and the school nearly closed. But God’s faithfulness, and the perseverance of His people, carried us through. The congregation rallied together to keep the school open, trusting that Trinity’s mission was worth the sacrifice.

Since then, God has continued to bless our ministry. A large sanctuary and office space were added in 1968. Four new classrooms in 1979 allowed for one class per grade. An extended care program began in the 1990s, followed by the addition of preschool for three- and four-year-olds in 1995. As enrollment grew, so did our need for space. Once again, our church stepped out in faith. In 2001, we celebrated the completion of a major expansion project that doubled our facility to over 50,000 square feet and included a hardwood-floor gym that now serves as a hub of activity and community.

In the years since, Trinity has remained committed to its mission of Sharing Christ through Church and School. Our faculty, both theologically grounded and academically excellent, help students grow not only in knowledge but also in faith. Our families form a vibrant, supportive community, bound together by Christ’s love.

In 2020, our school underwent a series of much-needed facility upgrades to better serve our students and families. And in 2024, we celebrated 150 years of Christ-centered ministry, a milestone that gives us every reason to give thanks and every reason to look forward.

Though much has changed since those early days, Trinity continues to thrive, still rooted on these ten acres on the “outskirts of Toledo” — now surrounded not by farmland, but by the fruits of God’s provision. As we look to the future, we do so with confidence, trusting that the same God who has led us through every challenge will also lead us into new opportunities to learn, serve, and grow in Christ.

What we value…

Trinity Lutheran School is a vital ministry of Trinity Lutheran Church, a member congregation of The Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod (LCMS). Our school plays a key role in the mission of the Church, which is to share the love and saving grace of Jesus Christ with our students, their families, and the community around us.

We believe that a Christian education shapes the whole child, both academically and spiritually. Throughout each day and in every subject, students are encouraged to view the world through the truth of God's Word and His promises.

Our teachers, administrators, and staff are committed to excellence in education while also modeling and teaching the Christian faith as a way of life. We walk alongside our students as they grow in knowledge, character, and in their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Trinity teaches and upholds the beliefs and practices of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, which are grounded in the Holy Scriptures. To learn more about the beliefs of our Church and Synod, please visit: lcms.org/about/beliefs.
